What is Lobster Thermidor?
Lobster Thermidor is a decadent dish featuring tender lobster meat cooked in a creamy wine sauce, stuffed back into the lobster shell, topped with cheese, and broiled to golden perfection. With our high-quality lobster tails, you can recreate this restaurant-quality meal with ease.
Ingredients:
For the Lobster:
1 package of Lobster Tails (350-400g)
For the Sauce:
2 tbsp butter
1 shallot, finely chopped
1 cup fresh mushrooms, sliced
1/4 cup dry white wine
1 cup heavy cream
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
For Assembly:
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp breadcrumbs
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Lobster Tails
Cook the Lobster Tails: Steam or boil the lobster tails for 5-6 minutes until the shells turn bright red and the meat is just cooked through. Let them cool slightly.
Extract the Meat: Carefully cut the shells lengthwise and remove the meat. Chop the meat into bite-sized pieces and set the shells aside for stuffing later.
2. Prepare the Sauce
Sauté Shallots and Mushrooms: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add the chopped shallot and sauté until translucent. Stir in the sliced mushrooms and cook until tender.
Deglaze with Wine: Pour in the white wine, stirring to deglaze the pan. Simmer until the wine reduces by half.
Add Cream and Seasonings: Stir in the heavy cream, Dijon mustard, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
3. Assemble and Broil
Combine the Lobster and Sauce: Fold the chopped lobster meat into the sauce, ensuring it’s well coated and heated through.
Stuff the Shells: Spoon the lobster and sauce mixture back into the reserved lobster shells, mounding slightly.
Top with Cheese and Breadcrumbs: In a small bowl, mix Parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs. Sprinkle the mixture over the stuffed lobster shells.
Broil: Preheat your oven’s broiler. Place the stuffed lobster tails on a baking sheet and broil for 3-5 minutes, or until the topping is golden and bubbly.
4. Serve
Garnish the lobster tails with freshly chopped parsley and serve immediately. Pair with a crisp green salad or roasted asparagus for a complete gourmet experience.
Pro Tips for Success
Perfect Lobster Tails: Use premium quality Lobster Tails (Cuba/Bahamas).
Wine Selection: Choose a dry white wine like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio to balance the creaminess of the dish.
Avoid Overcooking: Be careful not to overcook the lobster during boiling, as it will cook further while broiling.
